Join the “International Signature Campaign in Support of the Appeal of the Hibakusha for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons”

The 26th of September marks the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. On 7th July this year, the United Nations adopted the Nuclear Weapon Prohibition Treaty (https://undocs.org/A/CONF.229/2017/8), a groundbreaking progress which acknowledges the inhumane nature of the nuclear weapons, and the need for their total abolition. Regrettably, some countries, especially those that possess nuclear weapons and those that are said to be under the “nuclear umbrella”, are not supportive of this treaty.
“Hibakusha”s in Japan, the survivors of the Atomic Bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, have made an appeal for the conclusion of this treaty to ban and eliminate all nuclear weapons. The YWCA of Japan calls on all around the world to support this initiative, by spreading and adding your voice to the “International Signature Campaign in Support of the Appeal of the Hibakusha for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons”.
