Call for support: Earthquake in Kumamoto

From the evening on 14th April up to now, a series of massive earthquakes, at the largest M7.3, has hit Kumamoto Prefecture and surrounding areas, killing at least 27 people and injuring more than 1500 people. The people in the affected area are facing fear of further destruction by the continuing strong aftershocks and approaching heavy rain.

The YWCA of Japan is now in the process of collecting information on the safety of members and families amidst the ongoing situation. We will engage in support activity for the affected women and children, with the local YWCAs in the area as a basis.

We are now calling for donations for the support of women and children.
