Call for online joint action “SILENT NIGHT for GAZA” 23-25 December

Dear sisters around the world,

The YWCA of Japan is calling on YWCAs and groups in Japan for a joint solidarity action on 23rd-25th December, calling for ceasefire and to restore a “silent night” without bombing or gunfire in Gaza.
We call on YWCA members around the world to join us in this action.

This initiative was launched by members of Osaka YWCA.
Through the 3 evenings, local YWCA members of Japan will make a “silent appeal” in their areas and communities, which means simply standing on streetsides with signs, banners and candlelight, which can be done with even a small group of people. We will also share photos and messages on social media.

How you can join:

Attached tool:

  • Banner: Print out the banner to hold it in a “silent appeal”, or take
your photo holding the banner. Customize to create your own version!
  • Horizontal long banner: For use when standing in groups
  • Picture of an olive tree: When holding “silent appeal”, ask passers-by to place leaves in this tree to show support.

The YWCA of Japan will keep track of posts with the hashtag, so as to show the scale of support.
This action can be done in groups or one person, in gatherings, on streets, or from your home. Please join us and take action!
