• YWCA of Japan will hold a parallel event at the 62nd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women! (Feb 21, 2018)

    7 members including 6 young women from YWCA of Japan will participate in the 62nd Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) for the duration of March 8th to 19th.
    For the past years, YWCA of Japan has been participating in this conference as a part of World YWCA team which aims at advocating and strengthening young women’s leadership and empowerment. This year, YWCA of Japan and Asia-Japan Women's Resorce Center (AJWRC) will be jointly hosting a parallel event on this occasion. We would kindly like to invite you for our event.

    The Government of Japan upholds its policy efforts on gender equality, under slogans such as “a society in which women shine” and “Womenomics”; at the same time, Japan is ranked 114th out of 144 in gender equality rankings by World Economic Forum.
    This event will discuss the achievements and challenges of gender equality policies in Japan, in regards to how they actually influence women on the ground, especially from the perspective of young women.
