5 members including 4 young women from YWCA of Japan will participate in the 61st Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) for the duration of March 9th to 18th.
For the past years, YWCA of Japan has been participating in this conference as a part of World YWCA team which aims at advocating and strengthening young women’s leadership and empowerment. This year, YWCA of Japan will be hosting a parallel event on this occasion. We would kindly like to invite you for our event.

This event aims to discuss the role of young women’s leadership in realizing peace and justice (SDGs Goal 16), through sharing the experience and learnings from the “Pilgrimage to Hiroshima”, a peace-education program regarding the Atomic Bomb dropped in the city in 1945. The event provides virtual experience of the “Pilgrimage to Hiroshima”, including visit to memorial sites through visual materials, introduction of testimonies of the survivors, sharing of experiences from young women who organized the program as leaders, and the introduction of the program as a model of leadership-building for young women. The event also includes discussion on the roles to be played by young women for the realization of SDGs Goal 16.
